mind you, literally literal-minded

The blogoshphere just got a little smaller. Today I was going through my blogroll and—long story short—I noticed that there are two language blogs out there with the same name (Literal-Minded) and the same sub-title (linguistic commentary from a guy who takes things too literally). One is hosted on Blogger and run by a guy name Mack is a spam blog and that ripped off the IP of the other one which is hosted on WordPress and run by a guy named Neal Whitman. Neal also has another website called Literal-Minded Linguistics. The former has been online since June 14, 2007, and the latter since January 18, 2004.

[Addendum: Neal noticed this entry and was kind enough to explain in the commentary what’s up.]

Thanks for the link to my blog, and your readers should know that my (that is, Neal Whitman's) blog, hosted by Wordpress, is the real Literal-Minded, and the other one is a spam blog, created by hijacking my blog name and tagline from where they used to reside on Blogger. I've flagged this blog and notified Blogger that it's a spam blog, and am disappointed to see that it's still here. Accept no substitutes! You won't find any linguistic commentary at the other blog, but you'll find plenty of it at mine.

Thanks, neal, for the explanation. I shall delink them, and send a complaint to the management, too. Even Technorati gets confused between the two when I tried to view your cosmos and/or profile. But, then Technorati has some bandwidth and functionality problems, don't they?

Perhaps Blogger has a backlog of blog ID theft complaints. Hope they take care of it soon.
